Merawat Busi Vespa




Vespa identik dengan Busi. Hal ini disebabkan Vespa adalah kendaraan roda dua yang paling sering ganti busi. Tapi apakah Vespa kita bisa dibikin tidak gonta ganti Busi ? Jawabannya bisa.

Busi yang berumur panjang (tdk gonta-ganti) tidak sulit. syaratnya adalah perawatan yang telaten dari pemakai kendaraan. Dalam bahasa montir bengkel “TIDAK ADA BUSI MATI”. Apakah benar kata-kata itu ? Dibawah ini pengalaman penelitian kecil telah membuktikan, bahwa busi motor vespa tdk perlu gonta ganti, alias berumur panjang.

Busi terdiri atas dua titik dari arus positif (+) dan arus negatif (-). Kedua titik tersebut jika dihubungkan dengan pengaturan dari platina / CDI akan menghasilkan / memercikan api. Api inilah yang akan membakar Bensin yang telah dikabutkan oleh karburator. diantara kedua titik tersebut (ditengah) akan dilapisi oleh isolator.

Busi suka dikatakan MATI dan harus diganti jika lapisan isolator tersebut ditutupi oleh kerak/jelaga hasil pembakaran di ruang Blok mesin. Kenapa ada kerak ? jawabannya adalah pada kualitas bahan bakar dan oli pelumasan yang terdapat di Vespa. ingat Vespa itu kendaraan 2 tak, jadi bensin yang dibakarnya mengandung banyak oli.

Bahan Bakar (bensin) dengan kualitas (oktan) rendah akan menyisakan banyak jelaga pada komponen-komponen pembakaran. Jika memungkinkan sebaiknya kendaraan bermotor memakai bensin oktan tinggi semisal Pertamax keluaran Pertamina atau Shell super. Demikian juga dengan oli samping, akan banyak meningggalkan kerak / jelaga jika oli samping dengan kualitas (bahan aditif) yang rendah. Dan mengingat di pasaran banyak beredar banyak merk oli samping, kepada para pemilik kendaraan scooter memiliki pemahaman bagaimana memilih oli yang baik. Jangan lupa banyak juga oli samping palsu yang beredar.

Untuk mengatasi bertumbuknya jelaga / kerak di busi (isolator) tadi bisa dilakukan dengan membersihkannya secara rutin. Bukalah busi dari cilinder cop. Bersihkan memakai kuas dengan kerosin / solar / bensin. atau bisa juga bersihkan dengan memakai sikat besi.

Kuas dan sikat tersebut hanya mampu membersihkan isolator yang kelihatan, bagaimana utk bagian dalam yang tidak kelihatan ?. Pergunakanlah 3 – 5 helai kawat baja dari tali kopling yang sudah tidak dipakai. Isi lubang isolator dengan bensin, korek terus bagian isolator busi yang telah ada keraknya, setelah dilihat kotor, tuang, lalu isi kembali dan korek beberapa kali. Jangan lupa lubang bagian isolator tsb harus dalam kondisi terendam oleh kerosin/bensin/solar, supaya kerak hasil korekan kawat bisa dikeluarkan.

Setelah bersih betul pasang kembali busi di dudukannya dlm cilinder cop. Ingat ketika busi dibersihkan HARUS dalam kondisi setelah dingin. Jangan sekali-kali mencuci busi ketika dalam kondisi panas (baru dicopot dari cilinder cop yg panas), karena itulah penyebab umur busi pendek.

Ingat cara manual diatas harus dengan kesabaran.

Cara manual ini Ada juga yang lebih cepat dalam membersihkan jelaga / kerak di lubang isolator busi. Cara cepat ini tentu saja mengandung resiko yang cukup besar, yakni dengan memakai air accu (air zuur) dan juga air raksa. Caranya dilakukan beberapa langkah seperti berikut :

  1. Tuangkan beberapa tetes air accu zuur kedalam lubang isolator busi, biarkan beberapa detik, kemudian tuang
  2. Setelah diras cukup membuang kerak, lakukan pencucian dengan mempergunakan sikat (Kuas) dan air sabun rinso.

Model dengan cara ini hanya beberapa detik langsung membersihkan kerak. Tapi sekali lagi jangan terlalu lama, sebab kalau lama, lapisan besi/logam yang tidak memiliki lapisan isolator akan tergerus oleh air zuur. jika lapisan tergerus maka busi akan menajdi terlalu tipis.

Resiko akibat memakai air zuur / air raksa juga ada, yakni jika uapnya terhirup hidung kita akan berbahaya. Hm ….. resiko cukup berat. Logam berat akan memasuki rongga pernafasan kita. Cara mengatasi supaya tidak terhirup adalah dengan memakai penutup hidung.

Sekedar anda tahu, jika ada orang yang menjual busi dengan tanpa baju, masih bersih, tapi harga miring, harap hati-hati, biasanya hasil praktek model begini. Hasilnya memang menakjubkan. Setelah kerak dibuang, lalu digosok dengan sikat dan rinso, maka dijamin kotoran dan lemak oli akan terbuang, Busi-pun jadi kinclong seperti keluar dari pabrik.

Selain dengan manual diatas ada cara lain utk membersihkan kerak yakni dengan memakai carburator cleaner. Tetapi jika dengan carb cleaner biasanya ada pengaruh terhadap busi, sebab ketika cairan carb cleaner di semprotkan, suhu busi menjadi terlalu dingin.

Jika busi dibersihkan secara rutin (3, 4, atau 5 hari sekali) , dan jangan menunggu hingga vespa mogok, dijamin busi tdk akan pernah mati.

Hal-hal yang menyebabkan busi mati

  1. Listrik yang dihasilkan spul terlalu kecil
  2. Coil terlalu lemah
  3. Platina / CDI lemah
  4. Rendahnya kualitas Bensin
  5. Rendahnya kualitas Oli samping

Jadi biar kita bersihkan terus jika ada gangguan 1 dari kelima hal diatas, biasanya mempercepat rusaknya busi. Karena itu tetap kontrol kondisi kelimanya, atau kalau bingung periksa secara rutin oleh bengkel/montir.

JANGAN PERNAH MEMBUANG BUSI

Jika kita terpaksa mengganti busi busi jangan pernah dibuang, sebab busi yang bekas pakai dan disimpan lamaaaaaa…. kemudian dipakai lagi, biasanya pengapiannya cukup bagus.

Setelah tidak dipakai cucilah busi dengan minyak tanah dan simpanlah. besok lusa atau bahkan tahun depan sedang butuh, insya allah bisa dimanfaatkan

MERAWAT BUSI SUPAYA AWET

Jalan paling mudah memelihara busi adalah dengan memelihara atau memperbaiki kualitas bahan bakar (bensin) yang masuk ke ruang bakar (blok mesin). langkah kedua adalah memelihara kualitas karburator, sebab semakin baik karburator, semakin bagus pula kualitas pembakaran.

langkah yang lain adalah langkah cukup nyeleneh, alias tidak ada Standar Operasional Pabrik (SOP) nya dari pabrik adalah dengan merebus busi. Langkah terakhir inilah yang cukup jitu. ya paling tidak oleh para sekuteris cekak rupiah, kayak anak pelajar.

Langkah tanpa SOP pabrik ini adalah sbb :

1. kumpulkan beberapa busi bekas, atau bisa juga busi baru beli. 2. siapkan rebusan air di panci sebanyak setengah panci diatas kompor. 3. setelah mulai panas (bergolak), masukan busi kedalam panci, biarkan beberapa saat sampai air menjelang habis. Ingat jangan menambahkan air dingin, sebab suhu busi akan berubah.

Jadi cara merebusnya mirip seperti orang mau merebus ketupat. Jangan sampai air habis, dan jangan dulu angkat busi jika air mendidihnya di panci masih banyak. kalau distandarkan waktu adalah dengan merebus selama 10 menit, 15 menit, 20 menit dst.

Semakin lama merebus, maka akan semakin lama busi dipanaskan, maka kualitas busi yang dihasilkan akan semakin baik.

Akan lebih bagus jika busi baru dibeli juga diperlakukan sama. Pengalaman family-ku di Tegal. busi baru yang dipakai vespa dengan melalui proses rebus, 5 tahun ga pernah ganti busi.

Sekali lagi ingat pepatah JANGAN PERNAH MEMBUANG BUSI

MERAWAT ACCU

Accu untuk jaman sekarang menjadi benda vital untuk kendaraan bermotor, termasuk vespa. Accu perlu perawatan sebab setiap kali mesin dihidupkan, maka accu akan tersisi arus listrik.

Ketika arus listrik masuk ke accu, maka elemen dalam accu akan bereaksi. Reaksi dari accu inilah yang mengakibatkan (1) suhu air accu memanas lalu menguap, (2) kepala accu khususnya yang positif (+) akan ada penggumpalan dan biasanya menyebabkan karat.

Karena itu kontrol dan isi terus air accu, paling tidak sebulan sekali. Demikian juga kepala accu harus sering dibersihkan dengan kuas yang telah dibasahi pakai air panas.

Jika dirawat rutin accu awet dan terus bisa dipergunakan. Dan jangan dilupakan, jika scooter kita lamaa……. tidak dipakai lebih baik accu-ny dilepaskan aja. tuang / keluarkan air accu lalu simpan dalam kondisi kering dan terbalik. Maksudnya supaya lubang accu ada dibawah. Ketika hendak dipakai, lakukan pengisian air zuur dan air accu, seperti accu baru.

Perawatan tersebut diatas hanya untuk accu cair, sementara untuk accu kering tidak berlaku. Bagaimana untuk perawatan accu kering ?

Accu kering tidak perlu perawatan pemeriksaan air accu, tetapi karena dia tidakberair maka bebas perawatan. Hanya saja perlu diingat, accu kering punya musuh, yakni kepala accu tersiram air (pala + uatamanya). Jika pala + tersiram air biasanya listrik yang dihasilkan tidak maksimal. Musuh kedua accu adalah terjadinya hubungan pendek antara subu + dengan sumbu -. karena itu biasanya jika kita memakai accu kering, semua kepala accu ditutup lapisan plastik.
